Basic Baby Hat by Gina B. Ahrens

Newborn, 6 months, 12 months

Materials:
Red Heart Worsted Weight Yarn

Gauge:
16 st x 24 r = 4 inches

Keyplate:
dot 3

Instructions:
Cast on 61, 64, 69 stitches…..K 12 rows of WY……Switch to MC and do a closed edge cast on(leave a one foot length to sew up seam later)…..K 14, 20 20 rows......Decrease 8 stitches evenly across the row every fourth row 7 times….5, 8, 13 stitches should be left…K 1 more row……Cut a two foot length and draw this threw the stitches before removing the hat from the machine…..Gather the stitches and stitch the side seam....Do single crochet around the bottom edge....Then do a lacy crochet or shell stitch around lower edge......Sew a button to the top of the hat if you want.......Block and enjoy!
