Tip for July 1999: Day Care Brag Book
Parents seem to always interview day care providers after normal business hours when all the children have gone home.
Do you have trouble showing them your ways of interacting with children, because there are none around?
Do you want to show them rather than tell them your qualifications and awards? Here is a great way to do that.
Materials:
Report style binder with clear pockets on the outside
Sheet protectors
Picture of the kids
Construction paper
Stickers
Copies of license, awards, inspection reports, contract, etc...
Start by making a cover sheet for your binder on the computer or by hand. Arrange photos on construction paper with stickers all around. Take photos, contract, license, awards, inspection reports, and maybe even your business flyer, and place them in sheet protectors. Arrange them in your binder and you are ready to show off your business. My day care parents love to just look thriugh it like a normal photo album. This idea was inspired by that great group at the Model Family Child Care Organization at Choices for Children. I even used my book to prove to the IRS, when I was audited, that I had a real business. They ended up owing me money. Enjoy!
