Tip For April/May 2000: OAMC
Cooking for daycare is not one of my favorite chores. The cost of the food and supplies can be enormous. And, what do you cook for the kids that's different everyday and still meets the Federal Food Program guidelines? May I suggest OAMC?.
OAMC or "Once-a-Month Cooking" is a program I discovered which helped cut food costs for my family. OAMC is also a great way to plan, organize, simplify cooking chores and cut costs for daycare providers as well. Basically, you shop the sales, plan for the month ahead, and spend one weekend of the month cooking. Then at meal time you just take the frozen entree from the freezer and reheat it. Meals take about 2-4 minutes to prepare and you are no longer wondering what to fix for the kids. I have included some helpful links below to get you started.
