Child Care Provider Tip of The Month

Tip For This August 1999: Day Care Quick Contact Sheet

Did you just notice that one of your charges seems to have a fever? Are you, as usual, in the middle of doing five different things and taking care of the kids? Are the phone numbers for the parents in your office in the child's file? Not too conventient, Huh? Here's what you do. Make a quick contact sheet that you can have in the kitchen, in the play room and in the car.

Start by taking the files of all the children currently in your care and gathering all the pertinent emergency contact information from them. Use your computer, or neatly print, a list with the child's name, parents, all phone numbers, doctor's and other authorized people to pick up the child. Then make some copies and post them by all the phones and if you take the children out of the house put one in your purse.

Now if you need to call a parent or gaurdian the phone number is within easy reach.
